What went into the heatwave menu and which one outsold the rest.
The heatwave menu started as three blends written on the back of a delivery note. Six weeks later we'd sold more of them than we had hot chocolate all winter.
Mango and passionfruit was the one people came back for. Strawberry and banana sold steadily to families. The green one, kale and apple, did far better than any of us expected, mostly to the office crowd on their way through.
We keep the fruit frozen rather than chilled, which means no ice and no dilution. It costs a little more and takes a little longer, and it is the reason the last mouthful tastes like the first.
All three stay on until the end of August, then the menu turns back towards the warm end of things.
